Blue Swimming Crab
Scientific Name – Portunus armatus
|Arabic||سرطان أزرق سابح|
The blue swimming crabs are pretty common in the waters of Indo-pacific. While the males are typically blue in color and bright, the females are brownish-green in color and are dull.
The meat of the crab is sweet and is highly-priced. The meat is tender, delicate, has a firm texture, and is full white in color.
Besides being a good source of protein, these crabs are found to contain long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids. They are rich in selenium, copper, phosphorus and are a good source of Vitamin B12.
