Scientific Name – Lactarius lactarius
Whitefish is also called False travelly. They are found in a depth of more than 100m and tend to live nearer to the coast. They are distributed throughout the Indian Ocean rim countries and the waters of the South East Asian Countries.
They taste good when fried. They can be grilled, and baked too. In South Asia, they are salt-dried and are used in the cuisine.
Whitefish is a good source of thiamine, riboflavin, vitamin B6, vitamin A, niacin, and vitamin B12 They are rich in phosphorus, and selenium. They are good for a healthy heart, strong bones and muscles, and healthy skin and hair.
